Cities around the globe have their streets covered in modern art. This contemporary style is not only in your city. Many of today's artists choose a brick wall over canvas. Street art has become a common site around the world. New York and Los Angeles are known for their art, but this style of art can be found anywhere. For example, the city of Delhi, India. Delhi has a beautiful portfolio of paintings scattered on walls across the city. St+art India is an organization who has pushed for the transformation of the streets in Delhi. The organization’s goal is to provide art where there is none. However, St+art India has greater ambition than to simply create art. They want art to make an impact. They are now working alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Clean India Campaign. St+art India is just one example of how street art can have a greater purpose. Through street art artists can make statements and share their work with thousands of people. Banksy, a famous street artist, has recently used art as an attack on European governments’ responses to the Syrian refugee crisis. Most recently he created a mural across from the French Embassy in London. This mural is based on accusations that the french police used tear gas on Syrian Refugees. Street art not only beautifies cities, but it is used to bring about change. Art gives people a voice, which when heard by thousands of people everyday can be very powerful.
